AARP will stop providing internet access to low- and moderate-income households starting Monday, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.
The group has been a leading supporter of the Affordable Care Act, which is a key driver of the economic recovery.
The new policy comes as the Obama administration moves to scale back its expansion of Medicaid, the health care program for the poor.
AARP’s policy comes amid reports that the agency is weighing cuts to the Medicaid program to offset the cost of a tax on high-income earners.
